Sometimes I think when brides start with the planning of their wedding, the last thing that is on their mind are their pictures.  The one thing I try to educate my clients on is the fact that when you walk away from your reception, after all the guests have left, you have three things that you walk away with from that day.  Your spouse, your rings and your pictures.

You are planning, looking at venues, stressing out because that ONE dress is half way across the country and $10,000 so anything else gets put on the back burner and here you are, 4-6 months, or maybe sooner, before your wedding day and you think to yourself…OMG we don’t have a photographer!  Yeah…probably not a good idea.  I had one of my brides tell me after she booked that she was having nightmares about having to shoot the wedding with her parents point and shoot.  Ummm not so much a good idea.  Really.

For the past month, I’ve had this idea rolling through my head and just quite couldn’t figure out how to execute it.  Then with the help of Robin Bakes of RB Photography (http://www.rbphotographypro.com/) she got my butt in gear to get it done for this year.

Here’s your chance…this is what this whole rambling is about.  You and your future groom/bride could be the winner of a full day’s wedding coverage!  That’s right…a full 8 hour day, your engagement session, it could be all yours.

Did he propose to you in an unusual way?  Did he flash mob you with a bunch of dancers?  Let me know all about it!  This isn’t going to be about how many likes you can push to my Facebook page or popularity contest…this is going to be about how he or you popped the question.  The most creative proposal will win their wedding photography…covered.  Done.  One last thing to check off the list.

Here’s how you need to enter:

  • Email me your proposal.  Short paragraph or however long it takes for you to get the story over to me.  Remember this is not about how you met, your undying love for each other or anything like that.  Just the proposal.
  • Email it to: lisa@lisaottophoto.com
  • Along with your proposal, don’t forget to attach a small picture of the two of you.  No, this is not being based on looks but when I announce the winner, I’d like to post a picture of the two of you.

Now the details:

  • Deadline is December 20th so get them in now!
  • Winner will be chosen by me with the help of a very unromantic son of mine.  He’s bias so it doesn’t matter to him who wins.  If you win him over…the proposal was epic 😉
  • Winners will be announced on the blog, via Facebook on New Year’s Eve, no later than noon so everyone can do their New Year’s Eve thing and go out to not only celebrate the new year but also celebrate winning.
  • The proposal must be true.  If at any time I find out that the proposal was fabricated to win the contest, winner will be contacted, and contract will be null and void.

So get out your pencils…wow, I just said that didn’t I?  Anyways, get those fingers typing and get over those proposals.

In the meantime, head to the website: http://www.lisaottophotography.com

Watching a mother hold their child for the first time?  Priceless.

Watching a bride and groom exchange vows and start the rest of their life together?  Priceless.

Being asked by a family to witness and photograph the baptism of their child?  I love it!

Maria and Kosta have the most beautiful family and to be asked to photograph Michael’s baptism, was such an honor.  Maria is the most kindhearted, loving person that I have yet to meet.  She has such a sweet personality and you can tell that the love for her child is absolutely unconditional.

Their whole family was an absolute joy to work with and many blessings from here on out 🙂

Maria and Kosta…thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful and blessed day.  It means the word to me!

At the end of the baptism, Father Michael says his few words in front of the godparents and parents, then will hand over the child to the parents.  When Father Michael started speaking, I didn’t take much into account because I’ve heard his words before.  He has such an awesome way of speaking and kind of letting reality hit you square in the head 😉

This was different through.  Father Michael has known Maria for years and when the words ‘I don’t know of one woman that loves her child, the church and God as much as Maria does’, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the entire church.  Maria lost it and you could tell that meant the absolute world to her.

Prior to his baptism, Sister Akakia told Maria that Michael would fall soundly asleep afterwards.  She was right 🙂  For all of the family photos, he was sound asleep.  Truly amazing!
